Plenary - Main Room (Fri, 09:30)
During the transitioning to an IPv6-only communication, many devices and networks settled on a dual-stack setup.
IPv4 and IPv6 are available to these hosts for new connections.
Happy Eyeballs (HE) describes a mechanism to prefer IPv6 for such hosts while ensuring a fast fallback to IPv4 when IPv6 fails.
The IETF is currently working on the third version of HE which includes more connection setup parameters (e.g., ALPN).
While the standards include recommendations for HE parameter choices, it is…
The IAB IP Address Geolocation Workshop examined how IP-based geolocation is widely used across content delivery, compliance, and network optimization, despite well-known limitations in accuracy, transparency, and privacy. This presentation summarizes key findings from the workshop, including gaps in current practices, architectural implications of relying on IP-derived location, and emerging directions such as alternative signals and improved data distribution mechanisms.
During RIPE 92, we did ASPA validation and dropped invalid paths in the meeting network. During that we discovered some reachability issues that have not been considered by us before.
