With the advent of IPv6-mostly networks, we are finally getting to a state where native IPv4 is becoming optional in access networks. What started more than a decade ago in mobile operating systems is now slowly happening in desktop computers as well - pioneered by macOS, proper IPv6-only support is now also available as a preview on Windows 11 and in the NetworkManager on Linux.
464XLAT is a well known technology to implement IPv6-only networks in mobile networks. This technology will now become available in mainstream enterprise networks with the introduction of the WinCLAT feature in Windows 11 Beta. Enterprises will now be able the build IPv6-only networks. This talk gives an introduction to WinCLAT and shows the advantages of running an IPv6-only network in enterprises.
Routing loops and the amplification of looping packets are known problems on the IPv6 Internet.
In a recent measurement study, we found that both problems are still present, potentially harming Internet stability.
Loops are easy to fix, but they seem to lack attention from the network operator community.
In this talk, we aim to raise awareness about routing loops and amplification of looping packets.
We provide an update on the current state of these issues on the IPv6 Internet, with a focus on…
For 25 years we have been desperately searching for a Killer App for IPv6. We found it!
